Gattopardo is located within the recently opened boutique hotel- Hotel Fort Canning- and is adjacent to the Tisettanta Lounge which is also operated by the Garibaldi Group. Set in the lush hillside gardens of Fort Canning, the former British military Far East Command HQ is a listed heritage building, and one wing of the building was re-opened in late 2010 as the Hotel Fort Canning.

The restaurant occupies a bright open space off the main entrance lobby area of the hotel, and features white walls and ceilings, tiled flooring, with plenty of natural daylight from windows along both main walls during the day, and a subdued lighting effect in the evenings.  Glass fronted wine cellars attractively highlight the extensive wine selections available. Seating at the prominent travertine pizza counter offers diners a close up view of the dramatic copper hooded charcoal grill and wood fired pizza oven.   Fresh fish and shellfish lying in ice are displayed behind glass at the corner area of the counter. Contemporary Italian styled table furniture and chairs are set in a clean, uncluttered arrangement providing ample feelings of spaciousness in the main dining areas. A small private dining room is set into a space adjacent to the wine cellar with full height glass revealing selections of premium vintage Italian wines.

The Mediterranean cuisine menu at Gattopardo has been created by Chef Lino Sauro, and is strongly influenced by the tastes and flavours of his native Sicily. The Southern Italian style food that is prepared is light, fresh and healthy with an emphasis on top quality seafood simply grilled over the  real charcoal flames, gourmet pizzas baked in the wood fired oven, and specialty handmade pastas with toppings of fresh ingredients and seafood. Signature dishes include  “Amberjack with sea urchin vinaigrette”, and “Angel Hair pasta with Grey Mullet ‘Bottarga’ roe and sea urchin”. Daily specials feature the freshest available seafoods- flown in from Italy and Japan. The desserts feature a number of classic Italian dishes such as “Il Tiramisu”- signature Mascarpone & Espresso Tiramisu Cake with Sicilian Bitter Cocoa; and “La Cassata”- Sicilian Traditional Ricotta Cheese Cake with Candied Fruits and Chocolate Bits.

An extensive selection of Italian vintage red and white wines, sourced from the many fine wine growing regions of Italy- and with a particular focus on the excellent wines from Sicily- provide a multitude of choices to suit all palettes and budgets.  Selections of grappa, plus sambuca, amaretto and other liquers are available to round off the evening with an espresso.

And after diner, there is always the option of some relaxed “apres” drinks in the comfortable surroundings of the Tisettanta Lounge – a few short steps across from the entrance to Gattopardo.
