Authentic Bavarian cuisine and drinking in Singapore can best be experienced at the popular  BROTZEIT restaurants. Since the successful opening of BROTZEIT at VivoCity in 2006, there are now three BROTZEIT restaurants in Singapore ( Raffles City and 313@ Somerset), plus  a recently opened franchise restaurant in KL, with further expansion planned within the region. Brotzeit specialises in serving genuine Bavarian cuisine, prepared in the kitchens by German chefs, plus premium German draft and bottled beers. True to it’s Bavarian heritage, Brotzeit provides a casual, relaxed environment for drinking beer and sharing dishes with friends.

The Brotzeit restaurant at Vivo City ( Singapore’s largest retail and lifestyle complex) is prominently located on the ground level and faces directly onto the harbour with views across to Sentosa Island. The restaurant comprises a large  interior space, with large timber tables and leather upholstered bench seats.  Full  height floor to ceiling glass separates the interior from an outdoor deck area with more timber bench tables, and also some high tables and stools. A long bar runs down the interior wall, which is decorated with  a full length cartoon style mural depicting German beer traditions.

GERMAN PREMIUM BEERS

All the beers served at Brotzeit are imported from Germany and consequently are brewed in accordance to the German Purity Law dating back to 1516. This stipulates that beer can only contain four 100% natural ingredients- water, malt, hops and yeast. No additives of any kind are permitted. The draft beers are all directly imported from the Munich based Paulaner Brewery.

  • “Weissbier“- made from wheat malt, with the distinctive ‘cloudy’ appearance,  and a subtle citrus nose.
  • “Dunkel Hefe“- a Weissbier made from roasted wheat malt, full bodied.
  • “Original Munchner Dunkel”- a typical Munich style dark lager, caramel malts provide a sweeter taste.
  • “Original Munchner Lager”– This Paulaner beer is the #1 Munich Lager, with a clean, slightly hoppy nose, and a clear, golden color.

In addition to the draft beers, Brotzeit also offer a selection of premium bottle German beers. These include “Paulaner Pils” the popular pilsner , light style beer; “Kellerbier Anno 1417”– a traditional, unfiltered lager; “Salvator”– the original Paulaner beer- first brewed over 350 years ago. Other  choices include an alcohol-free wheat beer, and an alcohol-free lager.

SPECIALTY GERMAN DISHES

Although it is quite possible to just enjoy the cold beers at Brotzeit, the food offerings are equally tempting, and perfectly compliment the beers. Prepared to authentic recipes by the in-house German chefs, with freshly sourced local ingredients, these are some of the popular specialty dishes.

Backhendlsalat:  A fresh salad with crispy chicken fillet, potato salad, semi-dried tomatoes, sweet corn, cucumbers and pumpkin seed oil tossed with housed dressing.
