Authentic Bavarian cuisine and drinking in Singapore can best be experienced at the popular  BROTZEIT restaurants. Since the successful opening of BROTZEIT at VivoCity in 2006, there are now three BROTZEIT restaurants in Singapore ( Raffles City and 313@ Somerset), plus  a recently opened franchise restaurant in KL, with further expansion planned within the region.Brotzeit specialises in serving genuine Bavarian cuisine, prepared in the kitchens by German chefs, plus premium German draft and bottled beers. True to it’s Bavarian heritage, Brotzeit provides a casual, relaxed environment for drinking beer and sharing dishes with friends.

The Brotzeit restaurant at Raffles City is located on a street level corner of the Shopping Centre- adjacent to the Swissotel and Fairmont Hotel , and with Raffles Hotel just over the road. The restaurant is open to the pavement area, and has a number of outdoor bench tables under extendable awnings. The indoors space is bright and airy with timber panelled walls and high white ceilings. The seating is at the traditional style timber bench tables with dark brown leather upholstered seats. The  “L” shaped bar is clad with timber panels, and a black timber counter and dark brown bar stools provide a contrast in color tones. Signature design elements of Brotzeit include the full size mural graphically depicting the beer brewing processes, and the rear wall of beer bottles stacked horizontally in rows to the ceiling.

GERMAN PREMIUM BEERS

All the beers served at Brotzeit are imported from Germany and consequently are brewed in accordance to the German Purity Law dating back to 1516. This stipulates that beer can only contain four 100% natural ingredients- water, malt, hops and yeast. No additives of any kind are permitted. The draft beers are all directly imported from the Munich based Paulaner Brewery.

  • “Weissbier“- made from wheat malt, with the distinctive ‘cloudy’ appearance,  and a subtle citrus nose.
  • “Dunkel Hefe“- a Weissbier made from roasted wheat malt, full bodied.
  • “Original Munchner Dunkel”- a typical Munich style dark lager, caramel malts provide a sweeter taste.
  • “Original Munchner Lager”– This Paulaner beer is the #1 Munich Lager, with a clean, slightly hoppy nose, and a clear, golden color.

In addition to the draft beers, Brotzeit also offer a selection of premium bottle German beers. These include “Paulaner Pils”the popular pilsner , light style beer; “Kellerbier Anno 1417”– a traditional, unfiltered lager; “Salvator”– the original Paulaner beer- first brewed over 350 years ago. Other  choices include an alcohol-free wheat beer, and an alcohol-free lager.

In conjunction with the annual OKTOBERFEST- Brotzeit serve the special “Oktoberfestbier” from Paulaner.

SPECIALTY GERMAN DISHES

Although it is quite possible to just enjoy the cold beers at Brotzeit, the food offerings are equally tempting, and perfectly compliment the beers. Prepared to authentic recipes by the in-house German chefs, with freshly sourced local ingredients, these are some of the popular specialty dishes. The SET LUNCH promotions are particularly popular with both local office workers and tourists.
