SKYE – rooftop restaurant & lounge in Jakarta

Higher, brighter, bigger….the recent opening of SKYE on the 56th floor rooftop of a central Jakarta office tower was a welcome addition to the city’s stylish dining and lounge options. SKYE could well be a game-changer for the Jakarta restaurant and bar scene- finally introducing the city’s residents to the concept of sophisticated, high quality rooftop venues that have become so popular in other leading Asian capitals such as Hong Kong, Bangkok and Singapore. Since opening last month (June 2012) and occupying possibly the best location available in the city- on top of the tallest office tower- Menara BCA- adjacent to the Grand Indonesia Mall- it has already become the place to go for the amazing views over the Jakarta environs. SKYE is a great place for special occasions, to entertain visitors to the city, or just enjoy the understated elegance and casual sophistication of the indoor and outdoor lounge spaces.  Combining a chic, contemporary Restaurant (indoors) , with an expansive outdoor/indoor Lounge, the bold and beautiful SKYE appeals as a well executed all-day lifestyle destination- offering guests a range of options from morning coffee in the Bistro/Lounge, lunches and dinner in the Restaurant, or just hanging out with evening drinks and taking in the views on the outdoor terrace of the Lounge.

SKYE is the latest concept developed by the experienced local Ismaya Group, who have designed and operate a number of Jakarta’s most celebrated establishments including the nearby Social House, the iconic nightclubs Dragonfly and Blowfish, and a variety of other popular dining venues.

SKYE occupies the entire top level of the the building-  creating an expansive space that incorporates on one half of the floorplan an indoor Restaurant space of generous proportions with high ceilings and floor to ceiling glass walls; and on the other half, a spacious indoor / outdoor Lounge and terrace. The impressive contemporary design features extensive use of natural materials, with timber paneled walls and ceilings, raw concrete ceiling beams and pillars, and the widespread use of stonework on interior walls which adds texture to the surfaces. The furniture is modern, with a clean and unfussy style that naturally looks and feels comfortable. Splashes of vibrant colours on soft furnishings add highlights to the natural tones of the wood and stonework.

The SKYE Restaurant has an extensive menu, serving both lunch and dinner. The eclectic culinary style encompasses international ethnic cuisines, focusing on delicacies from Latin/Hispanic, Middle-Eastern, and Asian countries.

The SKYE Lounge concept is to serve bistro style food and refreshments during the day, and in the evenings transition into a “lounge” format with cocktails and chill-out music.
