Since opening in 2011 Ocha & Bella has garnered considerable acclaim within the Jakarta dining scene for its authentic renditions of provincial Italian cuisine. Attractively housed within an expansive street front space adjacent to the Morrissey Hotel in the upmarket Menteng area of central Jakarta, Ocha & Bella offers guests a choice of either elegant yet casual indoor dining, or relaxed outdoor drinks and socialising on the garden terrace. A prominent bar at one end of the restaurant serves up a full repertoire of well-crafted cocktails, beers, wines and refreshing non-alcoholic beverages.
With a team of Italian chefs heading up the culinary team, the bulk of the recently updated menu is anchored on the rustic flavours of traditional Italian home style cooking. A gleaming open kitchen adjacent to the main restaurant entrance greets guests at arrival, contrasting with the substantial wood-fired pizza oven built into a wall of reclaimed timber beams. Neapolitan style pizzas are made with blended light dough for a thin crust with a soft centre. The classically structured menu includes selections of antipasti; salads and soups; home-made pasta dishes; and meat and fish. Notable new dishes include Cannelloni de Pesce– baked cannelloni pasta stuffed with assorted seafood and cream sauce; Filetto di Nacello– pan-seared codfish fillet with crispy potato, clams, olives and marjoram; and the Braciola di Vitello alla Milanese– pan-fried breaded veal chop Milanese style, with mashed potatoes.
