Contemporary grill cuisine and progressive mixology at forefront in handsome new restaurant & bar

Flint- JW Marriott

June 16th, 2014

Taking over the expansive space within the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong previously occupied by JW’s California restaurant, Flint Grill & Bar opened in October 2013. After a comprehensive makeover, the new restaurant space exudes a sleek and sophisticated contemporary aesthetic that superbly complements the modern grill cuisine and progressive mixology. Located on the 5th floor of the JW Marriott- and directly above the upscale Pacific Place mall- Flint Grill and Bar offers a convenient and stylish dining and drinks destination for both locals and hotel guests.

Taking design cues from a residential theme, a series of distinct spaces interconnect seamlessly- with guests at arrival first encountering the striking cocktail bar and lounge, followed by the wine sommelier’s table, and then into the main open-plan dining space. Within the main dining area, several sections offer a variety of dining experiences- adjacent to the open kitchen two chef’s tables provide an immersive, interactive dining experience, whereas two elegant private rooms- set behind glass encased, floor-to-ceiling wine and glassware showcases- provide a discrete and refined dining environment for intimate groups of eight diners each.

Flint Grill & Bar opens daily for both lunch and dinner, with special promotions including a weekday executive set lunch menu, and weekend buffet brunches. Special cocktail promotions and events are featured at the bar- with details listed on the Flint Facebook Page.

Flint interior

Designed by acclaimed Californian interior design firm EDG, the concept for Flint features a harmonious integration of industrial elements such as raw brickwork, black steel and dark unpolished timber flooring with a contemporary “residential” decor of understated sophistication. Interspersed within the sleek decor, an eclectic assemblage of antique weighing scales references a market-fresh, produce driven, culinary concept.

Flint mixology

Since its inception, Flint has gained wide recognition for its polished drinks program and accomplished mixology. Headed up by highly-regarded mixologist Bryson Rivera, the bar at Flint boosted its credentials when in January it hosted the 2010 Diageo World Class Global Bartender of The Year, Erik Lorincz of the Savoy Hotel, London,  in a collaboration with Flint Head Chef Sven Wunram, to present a menu of cocktails paired with a 5-course set dinner menu. Head mixologist Bryson, competing in this year’s World Class Hong Kong 2014 was awarded “Best Presentation” for his cocktail creation “Dutchy Martini” ( see photo below).
