Occupying the top level above the iconic Bondi Icebergs pool complex, Icebergs Dining Room & Bar has, since it is debut more than a decade ago, been perennially rated among Sydney’s premier dining destinations. A captivating combination of the quintessential Italian hospitality ethos, a progressive culinary and drinks approach, and of course the breathtaking location, ensure that Icebergs enjoys wide acclaim, locally and internationally. The intimately proportioned dining room exudes a glamorous vibe  – deftly melding a comfortable beach-house aesthetic with contemporary design sophistication. Spanning one side of the top floor space, full height glass reveals magnificent ocean and beach vistas at every table – day and night. A seasonally updated menu is grounded on regional Italian cooking, creatively refashioned for a contemporary culinary experience. While at the stunning bar, a vibrant palette of turquoise and white references the environs, and open-air terraces allow patrons to be immersed in the ocean-front atmosphere.

Icebergs was founded in 2003 by accomplished restaurateur Maurice Terzini whose impressive portfolio of restaurant openings in both Melbourne, and more recently Sydney, extends back to his groundbreaking Caffe e Cucina in Melbourne – commonly credited with introducing in the early 1990’s a chic and contemporary Italian-style cafe culture to the Australian dining scene.

Heading up the culinary team at Icebergs are Creative Director – Chef Paul Wilson, and Head Chef Monty Koludrovic. Dishes that exemplify their menu of modern Italian cuisine include Guazzetto di Pesce – an aromatic fish soup, with  king prawn, mussels, clams, Coffin Bay octopus, gnocchi and herbs; and Tagliolini con Gamberoni- a fresh egg pasta with king prawns, zucchini, prosciutto and herbs. Sustainable Australian seafood dishes are a highlight – in addition to a variety of fresh Australian oysters, diners can  order the Pesce del Giorno – a daily market fish selection cooked either on the bone, or as a fillet. For a complete seafood dining experience, the inspired Icebergs Seafood Menu (2 person) delivers three terrific courses of seafood, plus dessert.

A popular destination in its own right, the stylish Icebergs Bar stands at the beach end of the rooftop level, providing spectacular beach and surf vistas from the sun drenched space. A refreshing drinks list features a selection of seasonal specialties, together with reinterpreted classic cocktails. Unconventionally assigned numerical labels, No.102 – is a martini-inspired classic – made from Ciroc Vodka, Lillet Blanc and a lemon twist or olive; while from the Italian Inspired Collection No.17 is a polished combination of Campari, rosemary-infused Antica Formula and Capi Sparkling Blood Orange. Complementing the well-crafted cocktails, a bar dining menu entices with fresh oysters and local shrimp, salumi and finger foods.

Icebergs Dining Room & Bar opens Tuesday – Sunday (closed Mondays) for lunch and dinner in the Restaurant, and all day at the Bar. Unsurprisingly, tables at Icebergs are highly sought after, and reservations are essential. Regular promotions at Icebergs include the Jazz & Pinot Thursdays, and Icebergs Sunday Brunch – details on the Facebook Page.
