A popular destination at the heart of the vibrant Lan Kwai Fong nightlife district since the 1990’s, Post 97 has garnered an enviable prominence in the collective memories of generations of Hong Kong partygoers. As Lan Kwai Fong itself undergoes a much-anticipated renaissance, Post 97 recently emerged from its own major transformation to cater for a new era of social dining and drinking sensibilities. The discretely located upper ground floor space has been restyled in the mould of a late 19th century London gin bar- where sophisticated libations and sociable dining are the focus. Taking inspiration from the fictional construct of a 19th century London gentleman adventurer/botanist, both the decor and drinks concept recall Victorian-era London. Guests can expect carefully crafted artisanal cocktails, uplifted with infusions of botanical ingredients and top-shelf spirits. A bar dining menu features elevated renditions of familiar British and European dishes – designed for sharing in bite-size portions – and for pairing with cocktails.

Accessed by staircase from the pavement, the atmospheric space features a dark brooding interior with meticulously detailed decor that evokes the bygone era. Antique styled furniture includes plush leather banquettes, and velvet armchairs, matched with solid oak dining tables; while botanical themed paraphernalia add context to the theme. Divided into two sections, the front cocktail bar and a rear dining bar space, Post 97 comfortably accommodates couples or small groups for social drinks or shared dining experiences.

The cleverly constructed cocktail program highlights carefully crafted libations – botanically themed – and artfully cataloged in an illustrated cocktail list fashioned as a handwritten 19th century recipe diary. Cocktails are categorized under botanical genre – for example “Juniper” libations are gin-based – while “Agave” libations showcase tequila forward cocktails. House infusions feature prominently, together with barrel ageing and small batch spirits. Creative presentation and elegant vintage glassware underscore the refined approach of the Post 97 bar team head by Group Beverage Manager Jay Khan.

Dining at Post 97 is a sociable affair with a modern cuisine designed by Group Executive Chef Brian Moore that showcases appetizing sharing boards of well-executed renditions of familiar British & European foods, as well as bite-sized servings of individual dishes. Knowledgeable staff are on hand to recommend cocktail pairings for the various dishes.

Operated by the highly regarded Epicurean Group, Post 97 opens daily from 5 pm, serving drinks and food late into the night. Table reservation in the dining bar section are recommended.
