La Taperia is an engaging Spanish restaurant that opened in late 2014 within the prime Orchard Road shopping and dining precinct of Singapore. Eschewing the trend for modernist Spanish tapas cuisine, La Tapería offers a well-balanced selection of traditional Spanish dishes, elevated with light creative touches and sound cooking technique. A popular destination for both lunch and dinner, the cozy restaurant entices with its well-priced menu and beverages offerings, while sociable late-night tapas and drinks on the outdoor terrace add a further dimension. Operated by the highly regarded Les Amis restaurant group, La Tapería draws on the considerable experience of both the group’s culinary and vintner teams to good effect.

Design  Set within a second-floor space at the rear of the Shaw Centre, the decor at La Tapería evokes traditional Spanish architecture with its wrought-iron window grilles, hand-painted terracotta tiled floor, and dark timber furniture. Dark green leather banquettes blend harmoniously with the Spanish-themed decorations, while the kitchen features an industrial influence with horizontally folding textured windows spanning the length of the open counter. In addition to a handsome private dining room, an open-air terrace features a long communal high table with seats for up to 20 guests.

Cuisine Accomplished head chef Ng Wei Han has extensive experience cooking European cuisines with Les Amis group restaurants and has created an appetising menu at La Tapería drawn from authentic Spanish culinary traditions. Signature dishes from the open kitchen include his interpretations of tapas dishes such as Capricho de Santona – piquillo pepper stuffed with tuna and anchovy remoulade; the lobster paella – Paella de Bogavante; and main courses like Super-Cochinillo Confit – suckling pig served with Calanda peaches & caramelised white onion cooked with sherry vinegar.

Wine & Cocktails Complementing the Spanish cuisine, La Tapería  offers an impressive list of Spanish wines including exclusive labels sourced from prestigious estates. In addition to highly regarded rare vintages from famous labels, the list also includes a good selection of labels at approachable price points. Other specialties include Tinto and Blanco Sangrias, aged single cask Scottish whiskies, plus a concise list of well-executed classic cocktails.

La Tapería opens daily – serving both lunch and dinner. The recently launched Set Lunch Menu represents great value at S$35 per guest for three courses, while menu updates and promotions are listed on the Facebook Page.
