Montreux jazz elevates Singapore nightlife with live musicians, sophisticated dining and vibrant bar
October 12th, 2016
Officially launched this month, Montreux Jazz Café Singapore becomes the first branch of the world-famous jazz-themed café to open in Asia – additionally celebrating the 50th-anniversary of the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival. Set within an expansive street level space at the Pan Pacific Orchard hotel in the heart of Singapore’s pulsating Orchard Road shopping and entertainment district, Montreux Jazz Café offers a unique blend of contemporary fine dining, intimate live music performances, plus a vibrant bar and casual dining option. Founded in 2008 by the Montreux Jazz Festival’s legendary creator (and trained chef) Claude Nobs, the Montreux Jazz Cafes became permanent “ambassadors” and the lifestyle extension of the unique Festival aesthetic. Expanding from the original cafe in Montreux, cafes are now found in Zurich, Geneva, Paris, Abu Dhabi, and most recently, Singapore. Attracting a discerning local and global clientele, the multi-concept Montreux Jazz Cafe fulfils a previously under-catered niche among Singapore’s nightlife venues with its signature combination of extravagant indulgences and eclectic live music performances.
Design A meticulously designed interior deftly combines fine dining, intimate performance spaces, a central island bar and casual cafe dining, and an outdoor terrace. In the contemporary sophistication of the main dining room and adjacent private room, framed photographs of renowned performers reference the heritage of the jazz festival, while throughout the interior spaces gilt-framed LCD screens display concert recordings from the Festival archives.
Cuisine & Cocktails Dining options include the casual cafe fare of Funky Claude’s Bar Menu, and the modern European cuisine served in the dining room. Musically-themed dishes that feature on all international Montreux Jazz Cafe menus include the BB Burger, Quincy Jones Roast Chicken, and Ella’s Cheesecake. On the bar menu, in addition to an impressive list of Champagne and fine wines, music-themed signature cocktails feature classics uplifted with creative twists – and well-executed classic cocktails offer familiar enjoyment.
Live Music As the official showcase of the famed Festival, the Montreux Jazz Cafe embraces a passion for jazz and blues music – highlighted by the improvisation and experimentation that the Festival is renowned for. The Cafe will feature regular performances by world-class artists, while also supporting upcoming local and regional acts.
Montreux Jazz Cafe Singapore opens daily, serving the cafe menu for lunch and dinner, with the a la carte menu served in the evenings. Check the Facebook Page for updates on the schedule for live performers and special events.
