UPDATE: November 2018 – Freebird has closed

February 22nd, 2017

Opened in August 2016, Freebird has been well-received by discerning Bangkok diners with its modern Australian bistro cuisine – relaxed sophistication – and a well-stocked bar serving an impressive variety of reinterpreted classic cocktails, wines and freshly ground coffee. Casual dining in a series of interconnected dining spaces is complemented by the cocktail bar adjacent to the open kitchen. Experienced bartenders specialise in creating well-executed twists on classics like gin sour and old fashioned. Conceived and operated by an eclectic partnership of internationally experienced hospitality and design professionals, the focus at the Freebird open kitchen is on a menu showcasing modern Australian cuisine – served in a friendly and sociable environment. Set within a reconstructed bungalow in a peaceful garden setting, Freebird serves fresh in-house roasted coffees by acclaimed Singapore coffee purveyors Sarnies; dinner and bar service Tuesday to Saturday from early evening until late; and a popular weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Cocktails  At the bar, the bartenders serve up a polished cocktail list encompassing modern reinterpretations of classics and Signature Cocktails that combine premium spirits and locally sourced ingredientsContemporary mixology technique is deployed in drinks such as The B.L.C. – named after the Freebird partners – elegantly combines vodka, yellow chartreuse, creme de cassis, fenugreek seed tea and citrus; while the newly added Sarnies Negroni elevates the bold flavours of the classic Italian cocktail – ageing the combination of Burnett’s London Dry Gin, Campari and Cinzano Sweet in a coffee-soaked cask to impart additional layers of flavour complexity. A concise selection of craft beers and cider, together with refined mocktails provide additional beverage choices.

Recently launched – the Garden Party held on the last Sunday of each month, entices laid-back Sunday dining with an attractively priced set menu selection of bistro dishes and free-flow drinks- served from 12pm.
