Inspired by some of the world’s preeminent cocktail bars, Rabbit Hole in Bangkok is a favourite destination for both a fashionable local crowd and in-the-know cocktail aficionados – attracted by the well-executed vintage and craft cocktails – served without pretensions amid a fun and relaxed vibe. Occupying a restored multi-level shophouse facing onto the main roadway, Rabbit Hole while eschewing the “speakeasy” label – the bar is concealed behind a plain timber facade and unmarked doorway – imparts a feeling of serendipitous discovery upon entry into its dimly lit interior. Opened in 2016, the deft combination of raw industrial finishes and luxurious furnishings evokes a particular sense of understated sophistication and ensures the focus is on the action behind the bar – and the top-notch cocktails crafted by the accomplished bartender team.

Design  The voluminous double-height interior is furnished with a fusion of vintage luxe and industrial-chic – raw concrete walls and floors, timber panelling and steel staircases share the space with velvet furnishings and plush Middle Eastern carpets. Behind the black marble-topped bar a spectacular wall installation inspired by Chinese traditional medicine cabinetry showcases the impressive array of spirits and whiskies. Overlooking the bar, a mezzanine lounge section provides additional seating options, while a further upper level offers a private den setting for small groups – serviced by its own stand-alone bar.

Cocktails  A recently updated cocktail list features a concise compilation of drinks categorised under Vintage, Craft and Whisky Cocktails headings. Expertly crafted with polished technique, premium ingredients and minimalist presentation, the cocktails at Rabbit Hole are noted for their respectful reinterpretations of classic cocktails and bold spirit-forward taste profiles. Beyond the cocktails, other drink options include a selection of premium Champagne labels, an extensive collection of independent label spirits, plus Japanese, Scottish and American whiskies.

Rabbit Hole opens daily from 7pm until late, with live DJs spinning tunes on Friday and Saturday nights. Ring ahead for table or bar reservations.
