Offering selections of freshly brewed premium draught Kirin beers and a menu of small-plate bar bites, Kirin City beer restaurants are popular destinations across Tokyo for casual dining and drinks. Modeled on traditional German beer pubs, the Kirin City decor exudes comfortable ambience with a long timber bar counter topped with a copper canopy and warm timber furniture. Operated under the Kirin Company who have been brewing beer in Japan since the 1880’s, Kirin City outlets serve a wide selection of specialty beers available exclusively at the bars, while the bar dining menu features both traditional European pub dishes and seasonal Japanese cuisine.

Brewed with traditional German technique using malted grains and hops, Kirin draught beers on the menu include the famous Kirin Lager, Kirin Brau Meister, Ichibanshibori Stout, and Kirin Ichiban – a 100% malt beer. Beers are served using a three-step pour (that can take around 4 minutes to complete) – creating well-balanced bitterness and carbonation, topped by an impressive foam.

As an accompaniment to the beer, the food menu offers a wide variety of European gastropub-style dishes complemented with Japanese bar snacks and monthly menus focused on seasonal produce. Dishes range from six varieties of sausages to Spanish tapas dishes, snack-size pizza and pasta. Kirin City restaurants serve a well-priced  Set Lunch menu popular with local office workers, while the bars are also a favoured after-work destination for sociable drinking.

Kirin City outlets in downtown Tokyo generally open on weekdays between 12 pm and 11:30 pm, and on weekends from 11:30 am to 11 pm. Reservations are taken – and most outlets offer non-smoking spaces.
