Sleek lobby bar a glamorous destination for sophisticated libations

Murray Lane Hong Kong

April 30th, 2018

Following the exceptional restoration of an iconic landmark 1960’s 25-storey office tower by renowned architects Foster & Partners, luxury international hotel The Murray has recently opened in Central Hong Kong. At the street level, a compact corner space discretely adjacent to the lobby is home to Murray Lane – a sophisticated bar attracting a vibrant clientele of both guests, and executives from the nearby financial district towers. An exquisitely executed decor of black marble flooring, soft lighting, black leather banquettes, and gleaming bronze-finished stainless steel encapsulates the contemporary elegance and luxury aesthetic of the hotel. A combination of well- spaced table settings, seats at the bar and high standing tables offer comfortable options for convivial encounters within Murray Lane.

Behind the sleek black marble bar, head mixologist Kevin Unido and his team serve a concise selection of signature cocktails and bespoke libations from the bar’s expertly-curated library of premium liquors, wines and craft beers. Taking inspiration from its financial district location, signature cocktails are separately themed on two lists – firstly The Tape Collection – with a nod to Wall Street  – offers a series based on dark spirits with finance-inspired choices such as Gentlemen Prefer Bonds – with Johnny Walker Black, Laphroaig Quarter Cast, honey and lemon; and Opening Bell – a combination of Hennessy VSOP, wild berry, apple, lemon, grape and Pineau De Charentes.  Featured on The Cassia Collection are drinks with more delicate flavours that exude hints of floral notes – inspired by the hotel’s heritage Cassia Javanica tree. Highlights include Murray ’75 –  a contemporary twist on the classic Frech 75 cocktail with Ruinart champagne, Cinzano, cassia cordial and orange blossom; and the VOC – with Tanqueray gin, genever, cassia and ginger. Additionally, a selection of Gin & Tonics provides a refreshing blend of Asian botanicals and premium London Dry Gins.

To accompany the drinks, Murray Lane serves a menu of small plates ranging from beef sliders to burgers to accompany pre-dinner cocktails or casual dining. Among gourmet small plates choices include Whiskey Glazed Chicken Thigh, Wine-soaked Moules Mariniers and the Beer-battered Fish and Chips. For those looking for healthy choices, salad options are available, along with house-blend fruit juices, coconut water, and an extensive list of premium Asian teas.

Murray Lane is located at the street level of The Murray, A Niccolo Hotel, 22 Cotton Tree Drive in Central – the bar is open daily from 7:30 am to 12 am ( late 1 am closing on Friday and Saturday nights)
