reddot brewhouse

Following on from the popularity of the original RedDot Brewhouse, located in the historic setting of 1860’s military barracks of Dempsey, the second RedDot Brewhouse has recently opened in another historic part of Singapore- in the restored early 19th Century Chinese shophouses that line the waterfront at Boat Quay. The 3 storey, double shophouse has been meticulously restored to maintain the original character of the commercial shophouse, but with modern elements such as plants and water features, and contemporary furniture, providing a calm and relaxing environment to enjoy the RedDot drinking and dining experience. A waterfront terrace area, featuring dark timber flooring, wooden wall slat partitions, drop down bamboo blinds, and cooling overhead fans, offers superb views over the Singapore River and the towering office buildings of the adjacent CBD financial district.

The ground level interior features the main bar, numerous high tables and chairs, and at the rear several large stainless steel brewing vats. The 2nd and 3rd levels are mainly used for private and corporate functions. Both levels feature dark timber floors, white walls, and exposed dark timber ceilings and beams. Attractive timber window  shutters open wide to reveal the waterfront scenes below.

The food menus at RedDot Brewhouse @ Boat Quay follow closely the successful formula developed at the original microbrewery at Dempsey– complimenting the fresh flavors of the various microbrewery beers with excellent food. The food offerings range from all day bar snacks, to an extensive menu of Modern European cuisine- with some Asian influences and flavors- includes salads, pizzas, pastas, burgers and classic main courses, plus a Charcoal Grill for barbequed meats ( Wagyu beef, lamb racks, gourmet sausages, satays) and seafood.  And to finish off the meals, there are a number of tempting desserts- the “Whisky Chocolate Melt Cake” being a specialty. The Set Lunch Menu is an appealing option with a 2 course selection at S$18++ and 3 courses for S$23++, and with the menu being updated on a weekly basis “regular” guests will always find something new to taste.

All the beers  served are freshly brewed at the Dempsey microbrewery and served on tap completely unfiltered and unprocessed.  The individual beer styles are mostly based on the types of beer popular wherever quality beer is appreciated- and are the result of a delicate composition of ingredients providing unique and original flavours. Amongst the most popular beers at RedDot are the “Summer Ale”, “Czech Pilsner”, “Weizen” (wheat beer), and “English Ale. A novelty beer is the “Monster Green Lager” – a green colored pilsner.

The “Summer Ale” has an emphasis on hops flavours and is designed for easy, refreshing drinking for hot & humid days and evenings. It pairs well with most Western dishes.

“English Ale” is a more traditional, full bodied, English style beer- with combinations of smoky, spicy and hop-py and malt flavors. The color is a  rich ruby red.

The “Weizen” is a wheat beer with a golden, cloudy appearance. Light-bodied, somewhat fruity and with a light spicy flavour, it is easy to drink and pairs well with Asian and seafood dishes.

With the superb waterfront location at Boat Quay, and the attraction of great beer and food, RedDot Brewhouse @ Boat Quay is proving popular with both city-based office workers, and also the many visitors that are attracted to the vibrant nightlife in this historic part of Singapore.
