Casbah is a luxurious, contemporary lounge – bar and dining venue at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur that opened in late 2010. The design is themed on Arabic origins featuring dark timber and leather upholstered lounge chairs, curved timber panelled walls, large dark stone tiled floor and an intricately carved ceiling. Suspended  Oriental glass lamp fittings provide a muted lighting effect, and a series of private lounge areas with plush red and black colour scheme and delicate mesh metal curtains for privacy. The curved main bar is topped with black granite and is highlighted with a large overhead circular lighting fixture. The Casbah is adjacent to the popular SULTAN LOUNGE nightclub, and accessed directly via an internal stairway. The whilst the decor and design is of opulent sophistication,  the mood at Casbah is of a relaxed and “chill out” nature.  The DJ lounge music ( with underlying Arabic rhythms)  is played at a level that allows comfortable conversations.
