Shook! is a much acclaimed fine dining venue within the Feast Village at the prestigious Starhill Gallery mall in central KL. Feast Village is a unique concept for an upmarket food court, and has set new benchmarks in Malaysia for both design and culinary excellence since its opening in 1999. The design for the Feast Village was based around the theme of showcasing ethnic Asian cuisines in an authentic environment reminescent of the  rustic “village” life style. With 12 different restaurants- each representing a regional cuisine – the culinary experience is as varied as the interior designs of each venue- all interconnected via a series of “pathways” that wind their way through the floor space.

Shook! occupies a prominent position at the focal point of the Feast Village– and with a large space of 1,300sq.m ( with seating for 200 diners)  Shook! takes up approximately one third of the total Feast Village floor area. An open dining restaurant, Shook! features four showcase kitchens- Chinese, Japanese, Italian and Western Grill. The interactive dining experience allows guests to select fresh produce from abundant displays on the counters fronting the various kitchens, and observe the “theatre” of the chefs at work in the open kitchens.

The large scale, open dining design of Shook! has many of the signature elements associated with its renowned Japanese designer –  Super Potato Design. Their creations are famous for incorporating natural materials such as stone, timber and glass, with contrasting textures ranging from raw, unfinished surfaces and edges, to smoothly polished slabs of granite. The distinctive style blends contemporary luxury with influences from the local geographical heritage.  Within Shook! the four large show kitchens are spaced across the room- with either thick polished granite, or solid timber counters surrounding each kitchen. Tables on the main floor are well spaced, and there are several discrete seating arrangements along the walls and adjacent to the wine cellar for semi-private groups.  In the centre of the floor space is a circular bar- with an illuminated glass counter and seating at the bar. The bar overlooks the performance stage and lounge areas, where jazz musicians perform nightly. A large glass encased wine cellar holding over 3,000 bottles of selected vintage wines is a feature at Shook!

The culinary offerings at Shook! are extensive, with a fusion of eastern and western cuisines served from the four show kitchens. All produce is market fresh, natural, and seasonally selected. Large glass tanks holding live fish are prominently displayed behind the Chinese kitchen- and a row of glass bowls of aerated water along the counter front hold fresh clams and shellfish. All the kitchen counters feature prolific displays of the specific fresh produce used within that kitchen.
