Grand Hyatt Jakarta commands an impressive presence overlooking the iconic Bundaran HI ( or Hotel Indonesia roundabout) in the centre of Jakarta’s business and upmarket shopping district. The Grand Hyatt Hotels, particularly in Asia, have notably embraced bold, cutting edge, interior designs for their upmarket dining and drinks venues- and burgundy at Grand Hyatt Jakarta is a lustrous example. What was previously a classic timber-lined “hotel bar” named “O’Reillys” was totally transformed in 2002 into the sleek, modern chic of burgundy.
The concept and design was the creation of the notable collaboration between Hyatt Hotels and the world- renowned Japanese design firm Super Potato, who also created the design for stylish dining venue “C’s restaurant” within Grand Hyatt Jakarta. Ten years later, the design of burgundy still exerts the impression of a strikingly original, modern interior that exudes a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. The concept for burgundy is to offer customers an enticing combination of superb drinks, nightly live music and the warm, relaxed environment of a “living room”. burgundy attracts a discerning , upmarket clientele- popular with both hotel guests and local Jakarta residents.

burgundy is located on the fourth floor of the hotel- accessed from the lobby level by a broad, curving staircase. The exterior floor to ceiling glass-walled facade has a striking silver and black, geometric patterned, translucent applied film coating – defining the sleek modernist style of the bar. Entering the main bar space, the interior is dominated by the square shaped bar positioned in the centre of the main room. Slim, rectangular bar counters on all sides enclose the showcase feature of the bar- an imposing, full height glass and steel, “see-through” wine cellar and vodka freezer. Plushly upholstered, custom designed, high bar seats face the bar counters. A section of high tables and chairs occupy an adjacent area to the bar, and overlook the musicians’ stage. Recessed cut-outs in the ceilings feature color changing (predominantly red) LED lighting, providing a subdued, warm lighting effect.
Further inside burgundy, on a slightly raised section, is an area of comfortable lounge chairs and sofas- all red upholstered- and low tables. Full height glass windows provide panoramic external views over the roundabout and adjoining office towers and the luxurious Plaza Indonesia and Grand Indonesia shopping malls.

Sleek, modern design of the interior
The bar at burgundy specialises in an extensive selection of wines and champagnes as showcased in the striking glass and steel wine cellar, and also an impressive range of sumptuous cocktails and premium spirits. Frozen vodkas are used extensively in the creation of signature cocktails, and delicious martinis. Selected wines are available by the glass. Draught and bottled beers- local and imported- are available, as are the expected selections of soft drinks, teas and coffees.
Live music- featuring prominent local jazz musicians- is an integral element to the atmosphere of sophisticated pleasure at burgundy– with the musicians playing nightly from 9:00 pm.
And the mandatory large screen LCD’s mounted both sides of the bar cater for the sports enthusiasts.
