Recently opened in central Bangkok, Sofitel So Bangkok is the second property worldwide to be created under the new “Sofitel So” label of the Sofitel Luxury Hotels group. Conceived as an urban design hotel, it exhibits an emphasis on innovative design and captures the zeitgeist of the contemporary urban Bangkok. The prized location, directly adjacent and overlooking the green expanses of Lumpini Park, and conveniently bordering the main business district, provides easy access for both local residents and hotel guests.

Consistent with the slogan of Sofitel So- ” intense living”– the new hotel offers an enticing variety of dining and bar experiences. The MIXO bar reflects a concept of stylish fun- an open, social lounge atmosphere located in a large space on the 9th floor. MIXO shares the floor space with the cutting edge wireless check-in service counter, creating the social hub of the property- and redefining the hotel lobby experience. The stylish lounge offers a relaxing haven for socialising and enjoying the creative cocktails served up by the mixologists, with unobtrusive tunes spun by the resident DJ in the evenings complimenting the fabulous views over Lumpini Park and the urban skyline.

As an authentic urban design hotel, Sofitel So Bangkok has an impressive roster of design talent behind its landmark tower and unique interiors. A collaboration between an award winning Thai architect, and five renowned local interior design firms, the interiors of the hotel have been themed on the Five Elements – Water, Earth, Wood, Metal and Fire- with zones of rooms within the hotel accommodations being the creation of one of the five design firms. In addition to overseeing the entire “style” and artistic direction of the property- the celebrated icon of  Haute Couture, Monsieur Christian Lacroix, has also contributed his unique French flair- with the design of the staff uniforms, the interior of the Executive Club Lounge, and the creation of the hotel emblem- the “Tree of Life”.

The design of MIXO features a light, spacious atmosphere with extensive use of blond timbers on the flooring, and with the distinctive “slatted” ceiling. With floor to ceiling windows extending the length of the room, the space is suffused with natural light during the day, and the multihued glow of the urban landscape in the evenings.  The unobstructed views over the treetops of Lumpini Park provide a sense of peacefulness and serenity within the lounge space. Furnishings are an eclectic selection of  modern designs- with tables, chairs and sofa settings generously spaced apart across the floor space. The impressive main bar counter, fashioned from polished dark marble, spans the far end of the room, with a long counter table and bar stools separating the bar from the lounge area.
