Perennially rated as Bali’s iconic beachfront lifestyle destination since launching back in 2000, KU DE TA has garnered a world-wide reputation for its alluring combination of stunning Indian Ocean beach frontage, legendary nightlife- and sophisticated contemporary dining. Adding a new dimension to the KU DE TA culinary experience, executive chef Ben Cross and pastry chef Will Goldfarb have jointly conceived, with the June 2013 launch of Mejekawi, a transformational addition to the fine dining options for discerning gourmets visiting Bali’s south coast. Taking its name from the Indonesian term for “sacred table”, Mejekawi embraces culinary excellence, with meticulous and masterful technique, to deliver a first class dining experience.

Inhabiting a newly constructed upper-level space of the southern pavilion of the main KU DE TA facility, Mejekawi showcases a stunning show kitchen, cutting-edge gastronomic laboratory, and innovative cocktail bar. Under the direction of executive chef Ben Cross the kitchen serves innovative 7-course and 11-course tasting menus- regularly updated- that focus on showcasing the most exquisite local produce from Bali, cooked with cutting edge techniques finely honed in the adjacent laboratory. Menus are mostly constructed from classic Indonesian dishes, re-interpreted with modern Western cooking techniques and tantalising ingredient and taste combinations.

Complementing the creative cooking, the talented mixology team at the adjacent bar serve an impressive selection of classic cocktails- updated with cutting-edge mixology techniques- to create perfectly balanced, delicious drinks. Diners also can order from an extensive wine cellar- or avail the wine pairing option with the menus.

Regular activities at Mejekawi include cooking demonstrations and classes, special guest chef dinners, and wine tastings. Updates on events are posted on the Mejekawi Facebook Page.

Mejekawi opens daily for dinner from 6:00 pm until midnight- reservations are recommended- particularly during high season and weekend nights.

Mejekawi Tasting Kitchen

An “island” open kitchen standing at the heart of the Mejekawi dining room is the centre of attraction for diners. With seating limited to around 30 guests- every table is directly adjacent to the kitchen- offering a close up view of the kitchen activities and an interactive engagement with the chefs.
