Update: March 2016 – Hit & Mrs has relocated to a ground floor space at The Troika

Established in late 2012, Hit & Mrs elevates culinary experiences in Kuala Lumpur with its fine-dining quality cuisine served in the more relaxed and casual environment of a refurbished neighbourhood shophouse. Masterful renditions of modern French and Italian cuisine, feature classic dishes reinterpreted with imaginative ingredient combinations of freshly sourced seasonal produce. Produce-centric menus are updated daily in accordance with the best ingredients available, while a 5 course Chef’s Tasting Menu showcases the culinary repertoire of Head Chef Keith Choong. Upstairs above the restaurant, the retro-themed Mrs lounge and cocktail bar serves up a solid list of locally- inflected classic cocktails in the laid-back atmosphere of a 1950’s living room. Hit & Mrs opens Tuesday to Saturday, with the ground level restaurant serving a popular Prix Fixe Lunch Menu, and the daily Dinner Menu, while upstairs, the Mrs bar is open between 5 pm and 1 am.

Located in a row of shophouses in a quiet residential neighbourhood, Hit & Mrs stands inconspicuously behind a simple white and black facade – recently joined next door by sibling restaurant Bakar (both restaurants within The Big Group portfolio). Refurbished with a contemporary industrial-chic aesthetic, the compact dining room and open kitchen feature reclaimed timber and unpolished concrete flooring that blend with distressed concrete and raw brick finishes, while simple, clean lined table furnishings exude an under-stated sophistication. In the upstairs bar, the original residence floorplan has been largely retained, providing several lounge spaces decorated in a vintage Malaya-era theme.

Standout dishes that exemplify the culinary talents of acclaimed head chef Keith Choong include the Norwegian Shrimps – with grilled cucumber, avocado, sea lettuce, yoghurt, dill oil; and Catch Of The Day – daily fresh fish served with squid, zucchini, pesto, squid ink. The daily dinner menus feature concise selections of fish, meats and vegetables categorised under Small and Big Plates, with several Sweet Plates for dessert.

A destination in its own right, the upstairs Mrs bar entices a discerning clientele with its unpretentious vibe and stellar drinks. Accomplished bar manager and mixologist Angel Ng Ji serves up a tantalising list of reinvented classics using local culinary ingredients to create a distinctively Malaysian accent to the well-balanced flavours. Noteworthy drinks include the Straits Daiquiri – with dark rum, gula melaka syrup, lime juice; Mojito Malaya – made with pandan-infused rum, gula melaka, mint leaf, lime juice and orange; and the signature Mrs Jungle Bird – dark rum, spice-infused rum, pandan rum, campari, pineapple juice, lime juice, sugar syrup.

With only limited seating available in both the restaurant and upstairs bar, table bookings are advised. The Hit & Mrs restaurant opens Tuesdays to Saturdays for lunch and dinner, with the bar open from 5 pm.
