Australian craft gin distillery Four Pillars bring their bartender competition to Asia

Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin

March 9th, 2019

Following the inaugural launch of the Australian [Gin] Open in the UK last year, Four Pillars is bringing their annual bartender competition to Asia in 2019. Spanning six of Asia’s dynamic cities – Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok and Tokyo – the Australian [Gin] Open challenges bartenders in the great bars of Asia to turn Four Pillars’ craft gin expressions into creative cocktails.

Four Pillars is a small, Australian craft gin distillery based in the Yarra Valley, an hour’s drive from Melbourne. The core purpose of Four Pillars is to elevate the craft of distilling and spread the gospel about great Aussie craft spirits and the sheer versatility and genius of gin throughout the world.

The Grand Final of the Australian [Gin] Open will take place in Singapore on Wednesday, May 8th, just a day before the Thursday, May 9th awards ceremony for Asia’s 50 Best Bars, for which Four Pillars is the Official Gin Partner for the 2019 and 2020 editions.

Bartenders intending to participate are required to submit one concoction that contains at least 30ml of the award-winning Rare Dry Gin – together with the drink specifications, name and an image of the masterpiece – to Four Pillars. Eight bartenders from each city will be picked to compete in their local Regional Final. The top participant from each Regional Final will be flown to Singapore for the Grand Final, after which they will also attend the Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019 awards and the May 10th opening night of Singapore Cocktail Festival’s Festival Village.

The final face-off of the Australian [Gin] Open in Singapore will crown two champions, who will each win an all-expenses-paid, week-long trip to Australia, and a visit to the Four Pillars’ distillery where they get to distill their own gin.
