Writer’s Bar reopened at Singapore’s iconic Raffles Hotel following extensive refurbishment

Writers Bar Singapore

November 8th, 2019

Long established as a tribute to famous writers that have come through the doors of Raffles Hotel Singapore over the decades, the Writers Bar has now been expanded to a full bar with bespoke craft cocktails, wines, and spirits. Furnished in a luxuriously appointed decor, curated with mementos and books that reference the literary legacy of Raffles Singapore, the bar remains a sophisticated and serene refuge kept exclusive to residents and restaurant patrons; preserving the bar for discreet refreshments and intimate conversations.

In conjunction with the relaunch of the Writers Bar, Raffles has introduced a Writer’s Residency Programme. A tribute to famous literacy luminaries that have walked through the doors of Raffles Hotel and to continue the literary tradition, the program has been designed to create and nurture aspiring and established writers.

Pico Iyer, the first Writer-in-Residence and British-born bestselling author, recently launched his new book: This Could Be Home: Raffles Hotel and the City of Tomorrow. Considered by many to be among the world’s greatest living travel writers, his book explores how Raffles Hotel remains intertwined with its constantly evolving city while remembering its storied history.

To celebrate Pico Iyer and his latest work, a series of cocktails have been specially crafted by Paul Hammond – Head Bartender of Writers Bar – taking inspiration from the works of the renowned writer.
