Announcement of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023 to take place in Singapore on October 17th

April 5th, 2023

The annual list of The World’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, will be unveiled as part of a live awards ceremony in Singapore at the Pasir Panjang power station, an incredible industrial setting in the city-state’s docks, on Tuesday, 17th October 2023, marking the first time in the awards’ history the ceremony will be held in Asia.

For its 15th annual edition, the drinks industry’s leading ranking will once again hit the road, leaving Europe for the first time to continue its mission to spotlight the world’s great cocktail cities. The global bar community will come together in the Asian city-state to recognise the achievements of the past year, celebrate global talent and, ultimately, honour the best bars in the world.

Voted on by a selected academy of over 650 anonymous drinks connoisseurs spread across the globe, the 2023 ranking draws from the knowledge and experiences of the widest pool of experts ever. The gender-balanced panel will vote confidentially with polling requirements once again adjusted to take into account varying travel restrictions over the past 18 months.

Highlights for the event program in Singapore will include the Bartenders’ Feast, which takes place the night before the reveal of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023. It will be followed by the glamorous awards ceremony itself on 17th October, which will feature red-carpet arrivals and interviews, a drinks reception, and of course, the countdown from No.50, down to No.1.

New for 2023 will be a series of five 50 Best Signature Sessions. These live events – which will also be open to the public — will take place in Singapore’s top bars, where local bar aficionados will be able to savor drinks from the world’s best cocktail talent.

In the run-up to the events in Singapore, 50 Best will reveal the winners of two special awards designed to celebrate the exceptional achievements of one bar and one bartender, as well as those venues ranked in the extended list from 51st to 100th:

Michter’s Art of Hospitality – This award is voted for by members of The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, who are each asked to name the bar where they received the single best hospitality experience during the voting period

Altos Bartenders’ Bartender – This accolade is voted for by the head bartenders from those bars on this year’s list, who are asked to name a peer who has done most to further the craft of bartending, with reference to their work in supporting the ongoing recovery of the bar sector in the wake of the pandemic

51-100 list – One week before the awards ceremony, 50 Best will reveal those bars ranked between 51st and 100th via its website and social media channels.

The countdown of the list of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2023, sponsored by Perrier, will also be broadcast live to a global audience via digital channels. Bars and cocktail lovers are invited to join through The World’s 50 Best Bars Facebook page and 50 Best Bars TV channel on YouTube.
