Back in 2009 the owners of the iconic LOT 10 shopping mall in central Kuala Lumpur re-developed the concrete rooftop carpark into the “Forest in the City“. Creating a green oasis on the rooftop of the mall, the manicured grass lawn is enclosed on three sides by low rise buildings that are covered with masses of green foliage. The rooftop is now home to an upscale fitness centre, The Actors Studio, the mega dance club ROOTZ and it’s related brasserie Teeq. Both ROOTZ and Teeq are operated by the same food and beverage group behind their famous Bukit Bintang neighbour- the FEAST Village and Shook! at the Starhill Gallery. The concept for Teeq was conceived as contemporary brasserie style dining, with combinations of modern European and Asian- particularly Japanese- cuisines. The name of Teeq originates from the pronunciation of “teak”- and evokes the predominant use of teak timbers in the interior design. The design highlight is the flowing waves of teak wood “ribs” in patterns across the ceiling of the entire large room.
Outdoor garden deck and bar
Teeq has three main spaces- the large indoor dining room, the bar located outside the restaurant entrance, and an outdoor deck with an open air garden setting of casual tables and chairs. Occupying virtually one complete side of the rooftop, the views over the KL skyline are unhindered – with the dining area having an all-glass facade, and on the outdoor deck, the sense is of being truly in an open outdoor garden setting.
The restaurant interior features a large, spacious layout, with plush curved booths down each side, and conventional table settings in the centre of the room. At the far end a full width, glass-encased wine cellar highlights the selections of champagne which are a specialty of Teeq. And directly behind the walk-in glassed wine cellar is the open kitchen. The avant-garde decor, with curving shapes and deep red colored fabrics expresses sensuality and a chic style. The dining experience at Teeq has a stylish sophistication, but without being pretentious.

Bar and terrace tables
The outdoor bar is on a covered teak deck area adjacent to the restaurant entrance. Modern leather and chrome bar stools line the curved stainless steel bar counter, with black sofas completing the seating in this area.
Overhead the curved, undulating teak ribbed ceiling continues the design theme of the interior. Extending along a further timber decked section are casual tables and chairs, set amongst a stand of slender trees, and totally in the outdoor environment. Here guests can chill out whilst taking in the views across the manicured central lawn towards the other rooftop buildings covered in the lush tropical greenery, and to the KL skyline beyond.
The bar is serving premium spirits, beers, champagnes and wines, and selection of popular cocktails- martinis, mojitos, margaritas, etc..

The menu at Teeq features the modern brasserie cuisine styles developed by the chefs- taking the best of European and Asian influences. Appetizers range from fresh garden salads to Gyuniku Negimaki– teriyaki beef roll with spring onion and Enoki Mushroom. Main courses include Slow Braised Grain-fed Beef cheek– infused with miso sake and Asian spices, served with chive mash; Confit of Slow Cooked Salmon with braised fennel and citrus fruit, with soya ginger and orange juices; and Larb Gai– Thai style warm ground spicy chicken and vegetable salad. Special Set Menus for three courses at RM 55++ offer exceptional value.
Diners at Teeq also receive Complimentary Guest List status at the next door ROOTZ nightclub.
