Taking full advantage of it’s wonderful location at the apex of the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel, SydneyBlu Bar on 36 continues to delight patrons with it’s superlative vistas of Sydney Harbour and the city environs – highlighted by up-close proximity to the iconic landmarks of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.  The Blu Bar on 36 upscale experience is not just about the views – a polished cocktail program gets equal billing to the spectacular location. Long a favourite destination for visitors to Sydney, Blu Bar, with its stand-out views, consummate drinks, and atmosphere of relaxed sophistication, also attracts a solid clientele of after-work CBD executives, and local Sydneysiders celebrating special occasions.

Soaring walls of floor to ceiling windows frame the memorable views – with a restrained yet luxurious contemporary decor that does not distract from the magnificent outlook. Sharing the upper level with adjacent Altitude Restaurant, Blu Bar occupies an “L” shaped space, with the sleek long bar extending down the west-facing side, and the main lounge enjoying the prime north and east orientation. Light & airy, the high-ceilinged lounge is suffused with natural light during the day and the sparkling CBD building lights at night. With the hotel built at the crest of a hill overlooking the historic The Rocks area abutting the harbour, the structural height is accentuated by its elevation – providing one of the best vantage spots in the city for taking  in panoramic vistas that span the full extent of the Harbour – east and west- plus the inner CBD and urban sprawl beyond.

The quality Blu Bar cocktail list features signature creations of the bar team, alongside a concise list of modern interpretations on classics. Additionally the enthusiastic bartenders offer a bespoke cocktail service, and also serve up a selection of refreshing mocktails. Other beverage highlights include a short but well-constructed list of champagnes, sparkling wines, and wines, all served by glass or bottle, and supplemented with a good variety of local and imported beers and premium spirits. An enticing accompaniment to the drinks, the bar food menu tempts with fresh Sydney rock oysters and other gourmet bar bites.

Blu Bar on 36 opens daily from 5:00 pm – table reservations are not accepted – and the prized window front tables are usually quickly taken. Private functions can be accommodated by arrangement. Blu Bar hold a series of seasonal promotions during the year which are highlighted on the Shangri-La Facebook Page.
