May 20th, 2016

As the Diageo RESERVE World Class Bartender of the Year 2016  competition enters its final regional stages before the September Global Final in Miami, in Singapore the final of four rounds of competition was held recently to select the four bartenders to compete at the Diageo Southeast Asia World Class Finals 2016 in Bali at the end of May. From an initial field of 36 bartenders representing the leading bars in Singapore, the four finalists that made the cut were:

  • Tom Hogan of Anti:dote bar at The Fairmont Singapore
  • Boo Jing Heng of Jigger & Pony
  • Kino Soh of Fresh!
  • Sim Kin Shin of Jigger & Pony

In the final round of the Singapore competition, the ten bartenders were tasked with two cocktail challenges.
Firstly, a time-travel theme required the bartenders to create three separate cocktails representing “Retro, Disco, and Future” eras.

The second challenge was the always demanding “Against the Clock” challenge – where each bartender must complete a minimum of five cocktails in the designated 10 minutes – while being assessed on their poise, accuracy, and craftsmanship.
