Well-executed signature and reinterpreted classic cocktails at design-forward Singapore bar

Specialty cocktail bar Court Martial Bar opened in December 2016 within the spectacular design-centric JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach – a stunning combination of a cutting edge modern hotel tower set among a cluster of restored heritage military buildings. Occupying a ground level space in one of the adjoining repurposed military buildings – and taking its name from a previous iteration of the space – Court Martial Bar is a contemporary cocktail bar with a focus on re-defined classic cocktails, housemade infusions and barrel-aged classics.
Design Avantgarde interior design from the legendary Fench designer Philip Starck is melded within the classic structure of the early 20th-Century military building. Sleek aluminium and chromed bar stools and glass-topped high-table settings surround the central island bar. A perspex floor section reveals an excavated view of the original utilitarian features of the room.
Cocktails Highlights from the approachable cocktail list include standout signatures such as the MT Platoon; the Heritage Sling; and the South Beach Sour – a well-balanced interpretation of the classic whisky sour. Other notable cocktails include the selection of Barrel-Aged Classics such as the Negroni with a sweet vermouth infused with raisins – and the Rum Ol’Fashioned that features an infusion of barley syrup. And complementing the polished cocktail service – do not miss the “Bucket List” of top-notch bar bites such as Wagyu Beef Satay and Sriracha Asparagus Fritters.
Court Martial Bar opens daily from 5:00 pm until midnight – and popular as a sophisticated destination for after-work drinks and bites – and later in the evening – for laid-back libations.
