Since December 2017, the uppermost levels of the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park – home to a duo of sophisticated bars – have become a destination for a discerning clientele seeking elevated cocktails and spectacular views. On the 37th floor, ABar reveals a polished decor that harmoniously blends retro design references with a contemporary aesthetic of understated luxury – complemented with a drinks program that focuses on dark spirits and vintage prohibition-era cocktails. While on the open rooftop directly above ABar, the ABar Rooftop bar offers a relaxed vibe for refreshing drinks created from an impressive collection of 55+ gins.
Occupying an expansive space opposite the acclaimed Akira Back Bangkok restaurant, ABar offers guests a series of spaces including the main bar, a games area, and a semi-enclosed open-air terrace. With subdued lighting, the elegant décor features parquet flooring, dark timber paneled walls, plush leather wingback chairs, and black marble-topped tables.
Specialising in dark spirits, head bartender Rojanat Chareonsri (Ping) has created a concise menu of classic vintage and prohibition era cocktails. Guests can also select their beverages from the list of premium Scotch single malts and blended whiskies; Japanese single malts and blends; with selections of dark rums and cognacs rounding out the dark spirits collection. Among standout cocktails to try – the Devonshire Daisy is crafted from Plantation pineapple rum, green chartreuse, house-made parsley cordial, fresh lime, and soda; while the Bobby Burns combines The Glenlivet Founders Reserve with Carpano Classico, Benedictine, and Giffard Crème de Cacao.
Gourmet bar snacks from the Akira Back kitchen include Tuna pizza; Crispy rice; Baby pork short ribs; and Akira Back sliders.
ABar opens daily from 6 pm – enjoy evening drinks and laid-back jazz tracks while taking in the spectacular Bangkok skyline views.
