Afternoon high tea service at The Peninsula Hotels world-wide follows the time-honoured tradition first adopted by the original Peninsula Hotel when it opened back in 1928, in British colonial-era Hong Kong. The afternoon high tea service has since become an institution at subsequent The Peninsula Hotels that have opened across the major cities of Asia, the USA and Europe. Since its original inception in England, the variety of finger sandwiches, scones and cakes served with the tea has evolved as the concept was spread across the globe- principally within the grand luxury hotels. More contemporary cuisine influences have been included to create a greater diversity of menu selections that are attuned to local culinary tastes- but always remaining faithful to the traditional concept of the afternoon tea service.
In Bangkok, The Peninsula Bangkok is renowned for its authentic “Peninsula Traditional Afternoon Tea” – served daily in the majestic space of The Lobby. Popular with both local residents and hotel guests, the sublime afternoon tea experience at The Peninsula Bangkok imbues a sense of sophisticated indulgence amid the serenity and comfortable elegance of the spacious Lobby. In addition to the “Peninsula Traditional Afternoon Tea” set, a delicious new Thai-themed set was recently created- the “Thai Naturally Peninsula Afternoon Tea”– adding local ingredients and tastes to the traditional menu selections. Further special sets are offered at specific time during the year- notably the “Teddy Bear Afternoon Tea” set supporting UNICEF Thailand, and the “Peninsula in Pink Afternoon Tea” set in support of the annual Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.
All afternoon teas sets include a selection of the finest teas and infusions- including The Peninsula Tea Collection. A wide variety of teas are available- including classics such as English Breakfast, Earl Grey and Darjeeling, lemongrass and herbal, chamomile, etc.. Chinese and Asian varieties include green tea, lychee black, and jasmine dragon ball.
Afternoon Tea is served daily at The Lobby from 2:00 pm ~ 6:00 pm.

Thai Naturally Peninsula Afternoon Tea set comprises a triple-tiered stand showcasing the delicacies, which include Coconut and Pandan cream Eclair; Phuket Pineapple and Brown Sugar Soft Cake; freshly baked Multigrain Scones with Dry Mango & whipped cream; Stir-fried Vegetables with Coriander in Crispy Bag; and Vegetable Rice Rolls with sweet basil and chili sauce.
