Highly regarded as one of Bangkok’s leading exponents of the gastrobar dining concept, Hyde & Seek Gastro Bar has been delivering polished cocktails and innovative renditions of international comfort cuisines since opening in 2010. Revered by a hip and fashionable Bangkok clientele and in-the-know visitors, the continued popularity of Hyde & Seek has spawned the opening of a sibling venue in the newly launched (2014) Groove at CentralWorld upscale dining complex in the heart of Bangkok. Whilst imbued with the DNA of the original Hyde & Seek, the new venue adopts a more relaxed and playful approach – evident in the adopted moniker of Hyde & Seek Peek-a-Boo. Conceived as an all-day dining destination, Hyde & Seek Peek-a-Boo serves up an informal menu of modern re-interpretations of international comfort dishes, tweaked for the local palate; and at the solid timber central bar, innovative cocktails are the highlight of the refreshing drinks selection.

Occupying a well-proportioned corner space on the ground level of the modernistic Groove complex, the eclectic design of Peek-a-Boo has been inspired by a tree-house concept – conveying a sense of playful escape from the hectic urban surroundings. Combining indoor and outdoor spaces, the rustic decor features predominantly raw wood finishes, interspersed with quirky design details such as faux crocodile skin upholstery, vintage-style wooden rocking chairs, and chain-suspended swing seats. Soft lighting from suspended retro halogen bulbs and the warm timber tones suffuse a comforting atmosphere of relaxation.

Famous local chefs Ian Kittichai & Peter Pitakwong have created an appealing menu of modern British and American comfort dishes for Peek-a-Boo, showcasing the culinary virtuosity of the partner chefs. Dishes are assembled under categories such as All Day Brunch; Playground Bite; and the more familiar Salads, Burgers & Sandwiches, Fish & Seafood, Rice & Pasta, and Meat. Some standout dishes include the Duck Sloppy Joe – served with Thai jalapeño pepper, cheddar, sweet corn & pickled cabbage; Duck Breast – with Peking sauce, pickled cucumber, chili barley & Chinese spinach;  Beef Stroganoff – wok fried rump cap, sautéed mushroom, white wine, smoked paprika & fettuccine; and the Wagyu Beef Burger – grilled Wagyu patty, cheddar & garlic brioche-cheese bun.

An innovative cocktail program showcases Hyde & Seek head mixologist Nath Arj-Han’s passion for the art of cocktails, his signature style of modern mixology technique featuring jazzed up renditions of  the classics, overlaid with inspiration drawn from pop culture. An evolving list of cocktails are crafted from premium quality spirits and fresh local ingredients – notably well-balanced and superbly presented. Typifying his cocktail style are signature drinks such as Nam Doc Mai – a combination of Ketel One Vodka, yellow Chartreuse, fresh mango, elderflower liqueur, orange blossom – referencing the aromatic local Thai dessert Mango (Nam Doc Mai in Thai) Sticky Rice; and Honeysuckle Smash – with Pampero Blanco Rum, ginger, pear eau de vie, honey coriander, fresh apple, mint, flower.
