Kong Kong’s Bar Leone Ranked as World’s Best Bar 2025

The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025, sponsored by Perrier, were announced at the awards ceremony held in Hong Kong last week. The 17th edition of the awards event took place on 8 October 2025, at the iconic Kai Tak Cruise Terminal overlooking Victoria Harbour, gathering more than 2,000 of the world’s leading bartenders, hospitality professionals and drinks industry figures for a citywide celebration of cocktail excellence.

Claiming the title of The World’s Best Bar 2025, sponsored by Perrier, was Bar Leone from Hong Kong. The announcement headlined a programme that saw the international bar community gather in Hong Kong for a week of public and industry-exclusive events, including a series of collaborative 50 Best Signature Sessions at bars throughout the city.

Local Hong Kong bars were well represented on the 2025 global list, with Bar Leone at the head with a ranking of No.1, while COA was also recognised on the list at No. 38, demonstrating the vibrant bar scenes and creativity of Hong Kong’s cocktail culture.i

Lorenzo Antinori, owner of Bar Leone, stated: “To be named the number one bar in the world is not only an incredible honour for us at Bar Leone, but also a truly proud moment for Hong Kong. This recognition not only highlights our hard work but also affirms that our city belongs at the very heart of the global bar industry, celebrated for its creativity and warm hospitality. Welcoming the world’s best bartenders to Hong Kong this week has filled the city with incredible energy and excitement.”

The 2025 list features bars from 29 cities with eight new entries spread across Athens, Bratislava, Guangzhou, Lima, New York, Oslo, Tirana and Tokyo.

Bar Mauro in Mexico City has received the Campari One To Watch Award

• The Cambridge Public House in Paris wins the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award

• Entering the list at No.25 and winner of the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award is Bratislava’s Mirror Bar

Moebius Milano in Milan moves up 31 places to No.7 and claims the Nikka Highest Climber Award

Baba au Rum in Athens is named Rémy Martin Legend of the List

• New York’s Sip & Guzzle wins this year’s Three Cents Best New Opening Award

• Backdoor Bodega in Penang is the winner of the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award

• The Best Bar Design Award is presented to Tigra + Disco Pantera in Sydney

Mimi Kakushi is The Best Bar in the Middle East, sponsored by Les Vergers Boiron, and Hero Bar is named The Best Bar in Africa, sponsored by Langjiu.

Asian Bar highlights:

With three bars on the list, Tokyo shines in Asia with stalwart Bar Benfiddich (No.18) joined by Virtù at No.45 and new entry The Bellwood at No.48. Host city Hong Kong celebrates two entries, including Bar Leone at No.1, The Best Bar in Asia and, a first for the continent, The World’s Best Bar, alongside Coa at No.38.

Singapore’s Jigger & Pony is No.9, with creative director and partner Uno Jang the recipient of this year’s Altos Bartenders’ Bartender Award, while Nutmeg & Clove is No.50. In Bangkok, Bar Us rose an impressive 26 places to No.15, and BKK Social Club is No.49. Seoul’s Zest is No.16 with new entry Hope & Sesame, the first bar from Guangzhou to feature at No.29. The winner of the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award is Penang’s Backdoor Bodega.
