Rosso is an elegant, contemporary Italian restaurant and lounge located within the luxurious Shangri La Hotel, Jakarta. Celebrating the Italian passion for “la dolce vita“- or the sweet life- Rosso serves an authentic “home style” Italian cuisine in a dining room of restrained luxury, exuding both sophistication and a friendly vibrancy. A new menu was created for Rosso with the arrival in early 2011 of Chef Oriana Tirabassi,  combining the authentic Italian flavours and dishes of a classic trattoria, with an attractive, modern presentation that  delights visually. A consummate professional in the culinary industry, Chef Oriana draws on many years of experience in fine dining establishments world-wide to infuse her enthusiasm and passion for Italian cuisine into the dining experience at Rosso. Complimenting the culinary excellence  is the relaxed vibe of the Lounge attached to the main dining section. Here guests can enjoy pre or post-dinner drinks in comfortable, contemporary elegance. Rosso serves both lunch and dinner daily, and offers a memorable dining experience in a refined but relaxed environment.

The entrance to Rosso is located at the lobby level of the Shangri La. Directly beyond the restaurant reception, on a slightly raised section, is the Lounge, with the main dining room adjacent, discretely separated by decorative patterned metal screen panels. The dining room is a long narrow space- with one row of black enamel tables matched with vibrant red (synonymous with Rosso) colored chairs, and running parallel,  a row of curved, plush dining booths. Overhead, the ceiling has a recessed domed shape and features a striking fresco style decoration. Suspended from the ceiling three large circular light fittings with translucent “tiled” construction juxtapose their modernity with the Renaissance era style of the ceiling fresco.

Further inside the main dining room, behind carved timber screens  is a private dining room- which overlooks the counters of the Finishing Kitchen and pizza preparation area. Extending out from the main dining room is a further “L” shaped section of tables on polished timber flooring, with full height windows overlooking the hotel gardens. Abutting this section is a separate glass encased room that showcases the Antipasti Buffet.

The Lounge features a blend of  styles, with the clean lines of modern black leather and chrome sofas contrasting with the elegance of the curved leather booths and ornately framed mirrors. The bar is highlighted by the color changing lighting effect of the back-bar display.
