Home-made pasta at Soho offshoot of Pirata Group’s popular Wan Chai pasta bar

Since early 2017, Pici Pasta Bar has catered to Hong Kong’s insatiable appetite for regional Italian fare together with casual, affordable dining – making it a must-visit restaurant in the Wan Chai district. To satisfy demand in the Central area, Pirata Group – creators of the acclaimed The Optimist and Pirata restaurants in Wan Chai – bring to Soho a new iteration of their beloved pasta bar. Located at street level on Aberdeen Street opposite PMQ, Pici Central has opened its doors in the heart of the vibrant neighbourhood.

The cosy space overlooking Aberdeen Street duplicates the inviting vibe of the original Pici in Wan Chai. At the 65-seat restaurant, a spacious interior with warm lighting, padded chairs and high ceilings ensure comfortable and relaxed dining. Guests can choose between leather upholstered booth settings, or classic timber bar stools at the long L-shaped white marble bar. Out front, a mosaic-tiled terrace together with a facade of white-framed windows opening up, offer casual, open-air counter-style dining.

Pasta.  At the Central restaurant, the cuisine follows the original concept with daily fresh, hand-rolled pasta prepared in open view of diners at the marble bar counter. Pici Central also offers a line of exclusive dishes, such as Plin Ravioli, a decadent pasta stuffed with porcini-mushroom and mascarpone sautéed gorgonzola; and Beef Tartare, raw beef topped with thinly-sliced mushrooms, radish and a splash of sherry vinegar.

Pici favourites include the House-made Meatballs, served warmly with a generous serving of tomato sauce, herbs and cheese; Tagliolini served with black truffles – topped with white truffle paste, and the Orecchiette – plated with Italian sausage and cherry tomatoes. For something new, Pici Central daily specials allow diners to discover another side of pasta with seasonal ingredients, plus gluten-free options.

Drinks. To match the fresh Italian meals, Pici Central serves a well-curated selection of Italian wines and classic aperitifs including Aperol Spritz, Negroni and Bellini.  White wines varieties include Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Vermentino and Fiano, while the red wines include regional bottlings of Chianti, Amerone della Valpolicella , Primitivo and Barbera.

Pici Central can be found at G/F, No. 24-26 Aberdeen Street (opposite PMQ), Central,  with the kitchen serving all-day from lunch through to dinner –  Monday to Sunday. A special Brunch Menu is available on weekends.
