Among the most notable Hong Kong restaurant openings in 2014 was the September launch of Bread Street Kitchen & Bar – the local offshoot of Gordon Ramsay’s similarly named popular London restaurant. Marking the first foray of the Gordon Ramsay Group into Asia (in a collaboration with the highly rated local Dining Concepts group), Bread Street Kitchen brings to Hong Kong the internationally famous chef’s hallmark renditions of Modern British and European cuisine, served in a vibrant dining space in the heart of Hong Kong’s Lan Kwai Fong dining and nightlife district. Guests can enjoy dining from a well-constructed menu featuring signature selections from the London menu, complemented by new dishes created with local sensibilities, together with polished cocktails and strong wine list at the bar. With its convenient location, Bread Street Kitchen is good for business lunches as well as sociable evenings of drinks and dining in a buzzy atmosphere.

Bread Street Kitchen in Hong Kong is closely modelled on the successful London concept of relaxed yet vibrant brasserie-style dining, in a bright, expansive space. Deftly blending a contemporary brasserie aesthetic with retro industrial-chic elements, the decor features long curved golden leather banquettes, chequerboard flooring, and marble topped counters, together with utilitarian bar stools, metal grilles and exposed ductwork.

The on-trend menu at Bread Street Kitchen includes a solid selection of signature dishes from London, with seafood dishes well represented, together with salads and grill dishes. Specially imported British artisanal products assure authenticity, with fresh produce sourced from regional growers. Notable dishes include classic British staples such as Traditional Shepherd’s Pie; Fish & Chips with crushed peas; Roasted veal carpaccio; and Eton Mess. Supplementing the a la carte menu are Vegetarian and Kid’s menus, and the Lazy Loaf Sunday Brunch menu features favourites like the Sunday Roasts with Yorkshire pudding accompanied by buffet selections of four kinds of Bloody Mary.

Proficiently crafted cocktails highlight the beverage program at the bar, with selections of classic cocktails complemented by both specialty dessert cocktails, and avant-garde cocktail creations from the bar team. A glass-fronted wine cellar adjacent to the restaurant reception showcases an impressive collection of global wines offering a wide range of varieties and price points.

Consistently popular since opening, table reservations are definitely recommended, particularly for the evenings. Bread Street Kitchen is open daily from midday for lunch, and from 6:00 pm for dinner. Menu and special events updates can be found on the Bread Street Kitchen Facebook Page.
