Award-winning cocktail menu showcases sustainable ingredients grown by local farmers

Approaching its 5th year of operations Bar Trigona at Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur has established its presence at the forefront of the local KL cocktail scene – taking the awards at Asia’s 50 Best Bars for Malaysia’s Best Bar in 2020, 2021, and 2022 – with multiple additional awards including Ketel One Sustainable Bar award in 2019 and 2020; and Best New Cocktail Bar in Asia-Pacific by Tales of the Cocktail Foundation.

Notable for its hyperlocal ingredients and creative approach to sustainability, Bar Trigona continues to build on the bar’s strong local grower partnerships including a long-running Adopt a Beehive program, and Tree-Volution, a reforestation initiative that plants fruit trees around Malaysian farms.

Bar Trigona recently unveiled a new cocktail program based around a narrative of Tales Behind the Cocktail which spotlights five local farms – each signature drink celebrates a specific ingredient while introducing the growers behind the ingredients. Ingredient highlights include the small-batch trigona honey – collected from Malaysian stingless bees – with its distinctive sweet and sour taste notes; Malaysian cocoa; sustainably grown Mutiara figs; organically grown, chemical-free Boom Grow herbs; and the fresh flavours of produce from fruit trees, herbs, and spices grown at the Trigona Farm – a recultivated plot of land in nearby Pahang state established under the Tree-volution initiative.

Exuding a contemporary luxurious style, the decor at Bar Trigona references the intersection of Eastern cultures and Western colonial influences with materials traditionally used in Malaysian crafts such as leather, glass, and bronze – combined with a palette of calming shades of imperial blue and teal, complemented by dark timbers. Designed by the acclaimed Hong Kong-based studio AB Concepts – the high-ceilinged interior features waves of suspended glass pendant lamps while full-height glass panes offer engaging cityscape vistas. Generously spaced sofa table settings offer comfortable privacy, alternatively, plush leather barstools at the centerpiece polished granite bar counter entice close interactions with the bartenders.

Bar Trigona is located on level 6B – adjacent to The Lounge – and currently opens Tuesday to Sunday between 5:00 pm and midnight.
